Has anyone ever noticed how people only love the ocean when the sun is out? Once darkness settles, breeze kicks in, and sharks come out to play - no one wants to swim among it’s waves. And I hope I have never made someone feel like that… As if they’re only admirable in light. As if their darkness wasn’t worth exploring. Because it’s when the sun sets that I sit on the shore, and stare at the ocean in awe.

I work at a swim school and we occasionally have birthday parties. I over hear a conversation one of the kids had with their mom
Hears conversation between a mom and daughter who is like 6.
Mom: Looking at news article on phone about Sam Smith**
Girl: Mommy why is Sam Smith kissing a boy?
Mom: it’s because he’s gay honey.
Girl: Mommy what does gay mean?
Mom: Like girls like boys, it’s when boys like boys.
Girl: Oh….well why can’t girls like girls?
Mom: They can they’re called lesbians.
Girl: lessions?
Mom: No, Les-Bee-Ens.
Girl: Oh Okay,….can I be lesbian?
Mom: Sure, only if you feel that way, why?
Girl: Cuz there’s this girl name katey and she’s really really pretty like prettier then Elsa.

Mom: Okay, wait…what about that other kid you liked, that boy named Jimmy.
Girl: I don’t like Jimmy anymore, I only said that cause I thought I didn’t have anymore options but boys.

her skin gets so dark in the summer time, there is a reddish tinge to
her cheeks and it drives me wild. she likes to wear her hair free in the
summer time. i like the way it moves in the breeze. i love how she
shines in the sun. i like how she’ll go for walks with me around the
park. i like the picnics and milkshakes we share on benches. i like warm
sunny days with her by my side
U know how in winter it gets so cold and u think u will never be hot again and in summer it gets so hot u think u will never be cold again I think that is how it is with ur feelings like when u r sad u think u will never be happy and when u r happy u think u will never be sad. But u will be hot again and u will be cold again and u will be sad again but most of all u will be happy again

- Persephone: deep reds, glinting silvers, soft black leather, silken rose petals
- Hestia: soft warm glow, cotton and lace, summer mornings, honey ginger tea
- Aphrodite: glossy lips, shimmering skin, acetone, gasping for air
- Eris: the electric shock you when you brush against someone, burning hair, the shine of stolen gold, matte black
- Athena: dust clearing after a fight, dried blood, wet ink, the smell of old books
- Artemis: feral wolves, sibling rivalry, shadows, bones stripped clean by time
- Hera: grey roots, jewels at her throat, silk and diamonds, loyalty without thought
